KRAV MAGA DUBLIN TEAMS UP WITH KRAV MAGA CORK
Myself and my good friend Steve Folan (Chief Instructor with Krav Maga, Cork) have teamed up for some new classes and courses for 2009. Ireland's two largest and longest established official IKMF schools have joined together to deliver various courses in hand to hand combat, knife defence courses, ground-fighting, gun disarms, and street smart courses.
In March, we both will launch a 6 week beginner's introductory course in the official Krav Maga system. This class is suitable for all ages (under 18's will need to be accompanied on the first night by a parent or guardian), fitness levels, male and female. This course is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who has ever wanted to study the art of Krav Maga, and who has no previous experience. Below is a sample of the course curriculum:
- History of Krav Maga
- Introduction to power strikes
- Understanding the mind-set of an attacker
- How to develop a self defence game plan
- How to deal with adrenaline release
- Releases from various chokes & strangles
- And much more.
6 week level one course:
This course is suitable for all those who have trained with either Steve or me within the past 12 months. This higher level course is also available to students who have successfully completed the 6 week beginner course and who want to take gradings within the system. Course content will include:
- Impact development (hands, elbows, knees and feet)
- Understanding body-language before an attack
- Understanding the rituals of attack
- Ground defence (fighting from your back)
- Dealing with multiple attackers
- And much more.
Krav Maga Gradings -
Over the coming year both Steve and I will be preparing students to take their P1 and P2 grades within the Krav Maga system. Those who are interested will need to have trained for certain amount of hours to qualify for testing to P1 and P2.
This is generally between 6-12 months of continuous weekly training. If you wish to grade within the next 12 months you must attend the weekly Krav Maga classes to be accepted on the grading courses.
Krav Maga Weekly classesDue to the demand for another weekly class, we will be providing more weekly classes in Dublin and Cork - one for beginners and another for higher level practitioners.
Continuous training Those who are interested in continuous training will be happy to know that we plan to introduce ongoing training in the IKMF system. These classes will be structured in 6 week courses. Duration of each class will be 2 hours. When you have successfully completed your initial 6 week course, you can then progress to a higher level course of your choice. Dates will be released in the next few weeks.
